Jabalpur

Pleasure resort and capital of the Gond Kings during the 12th century, Jabalpur was later the seat of the Kalchuri dynasty. The Marathas held over Jabalpur until 1817, when the British wrested it from them and left their impression on the spacious cantonment with its colonial residences and barracks. Today Jabalpur is an important administrative centre, abustle with commercial activity.

Madan Mahal Fort

Sangram Shah, the Gond ruler built it between 1480 and1540. The Sangram Sagar Lake is the home of the red crested pochards, coots, and pin-tailed ducks from central western Asia.

It offers an insight into the life and times of Queen Durgavati. The museum preserves a collection of sculptures, inscriptions, relics, artifacts and curios and photos of Mahatma Gandhi.
Mala Devi Temple

History
Tilwara Ghat Jabalpur has a special place in the Indian history as it’s the same place where Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes were immersed into the Narmada River. It is also the venue for the opening session of the Tripuri Congress in 1939.

Tilwara Ghat in Jabalpur is situated on the banks of the River Narmada and is considered to be holy like the Ganges. Narsinghpur
Narsinghpur district is located in the central part of the state of Madhya Pradesh. It has the Vindhyachal Mountain on the northern parts and is flanked on the south by the Satpuras. Narsinghpur was one of the most important places in the ancient period. This area was under the rule of the Rajvanshis including Rani Durgavati who was a great historical warrior. In the eighteenth century a temple was constructed by the Jat sardars in which the idol of Lord Narashima was kept and from then the village of Gadariya Kheda came to be known as “Narsinghpur.” Later on it got converted into the headquarters of the district.
Some important archeological excavations have given an all new dimension to Narsinghpur Madhya Pradesh .In this district there is a village called ‘Bhatra’ where some fossils of animals and apparatus made of stone has been discovered. Ancient relics have also been found at Dhubghat, Kumadi, Devakachhar, Retikarar and some other places. Certain rock caves of ancient times have been found at a village called Bijori. The historical portraits discovered in this area allude to the time of the ‘Ramayana and the Mahabharata’. Bilthari gram in the block of Chanwarpatha which was earlier known as Balisthali, the place historically is attributed to King Bali. According to the Puranas the Pandhavas have spent a part of their exile at this place.
The illustrious Raj Gond Vansh ruled at Narsinghpur and lead to its prosperity. One of the most important rulers of this dynasty was Sangram Shah who established 52 Garhs in the area. Narsinghpur came under the British rule in the year 1917 and was known as the Gadarwara Pargana, Chichli and Gangai. The region contributed significantly during India’s struggle for independence.
