Temples of Narmadakund
Narmada Udgam is a pious place where you can easily get the mythical stories. This is the place where the River Narmada descends from Heaven with the permission of Lord Shiva. This place is the birth place of River Narmada which is believed to be the most pious river as the river is originates from the body of Lord Shiva.
History of Narmada Udgam
This place bears a rich mythical background. Being the origin of the river this place holds an eminent position in Hindu mythology. Temple named Narmada Udgam is located at the source of the river and this temple is one of the ancient temples that hold a distinguished position in the history of the Hindu religion. Apart from this there are other ruins of ancient temples near the waterfalls named Kapildhara and Dugdhdhara .
Ancient temples of Kalchuri period
Kalchuri is situated in the south of Narmadakund, there are some ancient temples of Kalchuri period. These were built by the Kalchuri Maharaja Karnadeva (1042-1072 AD). The Machhendranath and Pataleshwar temples are excellent examples of architecture.
Sonemuda
Sonemuda is the place from where River Sone originated. Here you can enjoy the panorama of forested hills and valleys.
Mai ki Bagiya (Goddess garden)
Mai Ki Bagiya is a grove of trees in dense forests that is named Mai Ki Bagiya in the honor of Goddess Narmada. In this natural garden we can find Mango, Banana and other fruit trees along with Gulbakavli, roses and other flower plants in abandon.
Kapil Dhara
Kapildhara is the famous waterfall with a fall of about 100 feet. According to scriptures, Kapil Muni lived here. Here is a scene of natural beauty with mountains and dense forest down hills.
Kabir chabutra (the platform of saint Kabir)
The local people, the Panikas, consider Kabir Chabutra as one of the holiest place
of the Kabirpanthis because Saint Kabir spent many years here in meditation.
Shri Jwaleshwar Mahadev
The Jwaleshwar temple is situated at a distance of 8 kms. from Amarkantak on Shahdol road.
Dhuni Pani Amarkantak
Dhuni Pani is one of the important tourist destinations in Amarkantak. Amarkantak is situated at the meeting point of Vindhya and Satpura. This place is regarded as one of the religious place as it bears various mythological aspects. River Narmada is regarded as one of the blessed rivers and carries a lot of importance in respect of the Hindu mythology. Apart from Dhuni Pani there is Dugdhdhara and Kapildhara.
History of Dhuni Pani
Dhuni Pani is situated in the hills and is a natural hot water spring located at the midst of thick forest of Amarkantak. The spring is regarded as philosopher's stone and the spring bears the healing properties that makes the spring more famous. The natural hot water spring creates a holy ambience.

Raipur is the nearest airport which is well connected by flights from various parts of the country. By rail you can reach Pendra Road, 42 kms. away on the Bilaspur line. There is a well networked road route that connects neighboring cities as well as states.

The nearest airhead is Jabalpur (245 kms).
By Rail
The nearest railhead is Pendra Road (17 kms) though Anuppur (48 kms.) is more convenient.
By Road
There are buses from Pendra Road, Bilaspur and Shahdol.
